One summer night in Buenos Aires, while Juan Salvo is playing cards with his friends, it suddenly starts to snow. It’s neither a weather anomaly nor a nuclear attack, as the friends initially suspect… The suspenseful and unpredictable plot quickly unfolds, and Juan and his friends make survival suits. They set out into a eerily deserted city, where they face waves of increasingly menacing enemies and uncover the secret of the deadly snowflakes. In 2010, the Argentine parliament declared September 4th as National Comics Day. This is thanks to *The Eternauts*, which began publication on September 4, 1957, and has become a cultural heritage of South American literature on par with Borges or Cortázar, as well as a symbol of resistance against totalitarian regimes. Legal disputes long prevented its release in Europe and the United States, so reading it today feels like an exciting excursion into the hidden history of popular culture. Attempts at adaptation began as early as the 1960s, but it was ultimately Netflix that succeeded.
