    Hiroo Onoda – At an elite Japanese intelligence school, he was taught to sabotage, survive, forage for food, and, above all, never to give up. In 1944, he was dropped onto the Philippine island of Lubang with a small unit. When the war ended, they refused to surrender and continued to fight and carry out acts of sabotage. After some time, he was the only one left of the three-man unit. He regarded attempts to persuade him using megaphones and leaflets as a ruse by the Americans. It wasn’t until 1974 that an adventurer found him, and his immediate superior later arrived in person to revoke his orders.

    The Emperor’s last soldier surrendered after 30 years of fighting and hiding.

    In the single-player game Onoda, you can relive the experiences of soldier Hiroo Onoda during his time on Lubang Island—thirty years of adventure, danger, comical situations, and tragic moments, of life and death, and above all, a testament to human resilience in adverse conditions.

    Over the course of six rounds of varying lengths, you must acquire a certain number of resources that will allow you to complete your turn without penalty. In each round, you’ll also undertake a mission for which you’ll earn honor points. During your adventures, you’ll experience some of the events that the real Onoda went through during his time on Lubang. If you manage to survive all six rounds without going mad from paranoia or dying from poor health, it will be time to find out whether you’ll be recognized as a hero or fade into obscurity.

    Your final score in Onoda will depend on the amount of honor you’ve accumulated by completing missions, keeping your comrades alive, and maintaining your unit in good condition.
